According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the rebels took the tomb of Hafez al-Assad in the Latakia region

Images released by Agence France-Presse today show rebels in military uniforms and a number of youths watching the tomb burn amid flames. 

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, rebels have torched Hafez al-Assad's tomb in the Latakia region, the birthplace of the Alawite community and home to the Assad family. 

Pictures released show that parts of the tomb were burned and damaged in the fire and that Hafez al-Assad's tomb was completely destroyed.
