Several European countries and Canada, reacting to Israel's detention of the Gaza aid flotilla activists, summoned Israeli diplomats and issued statements of protest.

In Canada, the government summoned the Israeli ambassador. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that the Minister of Foreign Affairs has ordered the summoning of the Israeli ambassador to provide explanations regarding the safety and status of the Canadian citizens aboard this flotilla. Referring to the released video showing the treatment of the detainees by Israeli forces, he also noted that Canada had previously imposed sanctions against Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir. According to reports, 11 Canadian citizens were present in the flotilla.

In Ireland, Simon Harris, the Deputy Prime Minister, described Israel's actions as "abhorrent" and called for a strong response from the European Union. He considered the detention of the members of the "Sumoud" (Steadfastness) flotilla a violation of international law, emphasizing that condemnation alone is not enough and practical action must be taken.

In Poland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also announced the summoning of the Israeli chargé d'affaires, demanding the immediate release of the detainees and an apology. He strongly condemned the treatment of the aid flotilla activists, including Polish citizens.

These reactions intensified following the release of a video showing the behavior of Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, toward the detainees.
