Mr. Khatibi wrote: "When I heard the 'ding-ding' of the airport flight announcements, I realized that fate had tossed me around like a worn-out wooden boat in a stormy sea. For a moment, it felt like time stopped, and its white silence pulled my eyes into darkness."
"I sold everything I didn’t have just to leave. It's a pity that Tehran's streets, childhood friends, close companions, colleagues, and gray memories wouldn’t fit in my suitcase—otherwise, I would have taken them all with me."
"Please accept my apology for this sudden departure; I had no other choice."
