Behzad Bahadori Jahromi, spokesperson and secretary of the revolutionary government, made an unusual statement: "This ‘government’ could have allowed shooting at the police commander (whom he still refers to as the police force) from day one."

This is a more complete video of Jahromi’s statements.

As a member of the government board and its secretary, with a background as a jurist, Mr. Jahromi should be asked whether the Islamic Republic government has such authority to command the police force, let alone to authorize or forbid shooting.

This is even more pertinent concerning other military forces.

The revolutionary spokesperson of the revolutionary government is not aware that the authority for commanding the police force, assigned solely to General Ahmad Vahidi by Ayatollah Khamenei in his capacity as successor rather than supreme commander, does not relate to the government. Moreover, the current successors of Ayatollah Khamenei in the police force and former law enforcement also have independent offices distinct from the Ministry of Interior.

If Bahadori Jahromi’s reference to the government implies the entire system, the next question is whether the spokesperson is also a spokesperson for the system, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, or the National Security Council?

Shouldn't an apology be made for this unusual and baseless statement? Or shouldn’t the office of the Commander-in-Chief or the Joint Chiefs of Staff defend the dignity of the armed forces and admonish this young government spokesperson?
