Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – August 25, 1982

At ten in the morning I went to Parliament, read the reports, and had several meetings with representatives. I also conducted interviews for the village Islamic councils. In the afternoon, the families of the martyrs from Saveh came, and I spoke to them. We had a meeting of the Presidium. The agenda for next week and Parliament's current affairs, establishing a clinic and dental office for the representatives, reviewing two or three incidents involving disputes between Parliament guards and representatives and others that had led to gunfire, and ... were discussed.

After the Maghrib prayer, at Mr. Khamenei's office, we held a meeting with the Supreme Judicial Council regarding the disorder in Evin Prison. After a comprehensive review, it was decided that we would seriously and decisively eliminate the wrongdoing, and Mr. [Seyyed Hossein] Mousavi Tabrizi was put in charge of taking action. Other important issues were also discussed. We had dinner there and then went to Parliament to sleep. Today Iraq fired two or three missiles at Kharg Island, one of which hit an oil pipeline and was repaired after a short time. Iraq's ability to reach Kharg Island is a weak point for us.
