I went to the Parliament earlier than on other days. The streets were quieter. Before the parliamentary session began, I took care of the administrative work. In the plenary session, several bills were passed. I handed the session over to Mr. [Mohammad] Yazdi and attended a meeting at the President's office with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister.

I handed the session over to Mr. [Mohammad] Yazdi and attended a meeting at the President's office with the Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister; we discussed negotiations with Saudi Arabia and the proposal that they stop supporting Saddam, stop disrupting OPEC, stop trying to save Israel, and stop causing disruption in the region, in exchange for our friendship and cooperation with them. We also discussed Mr. Velayati's trip to Syria and negotiations with Hafez al-Assad, as well as direct negotiations between the Foreign Ministry and the Soviets regarding several important issues: the dams on the Aras and Atrak rivers, reviving the 300,000-ton foundry project, selling gas, buying weapons, and similar matters, with the aim of giving the Soviet Union hope for the possibility of closer relations and preventing Russian conspiracies stemming from their disappointment with our Revolution after the suppression of the Tudeh Party. We also discussed the war, the Tudeh Party coup, and removing the slogans "Death to America" and "Death to the Soviet Union," all of which everyone agreed with.
At noon, in my office, I met with Mr. [Ali] Kazemi, the representative of Selseleh-Delfan [from Kurdistan Province]. He spoke about matters concerning his constituency and helping Mr. Hekmat—his father-in-law—in Syria, where he is under pressure from Hezbollahis.
In the afternoon, we held a session to review the positions of the [Islamic Republic] Party, during which revisions were made to the discussions on justice, ethics, history, and humanity. Then we held a Central Council meeting, which was mostly spent approving the bylaws and discussing miscellaneous issues. I came home. Mrs. Lee was our guest; she is an acupuncture doctor from South Korea who became acquainted with our family during my hospitalization at Shohada Hospital and has remained in contact with us. There is some possibility that she is an informant, but it seems unlikely. She appears to be a healthy and decent person. Her brother also works as a contractor in Iran.
