Mr. [Hossein] Mousavian, [a senior member of the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council], came to seek my approval for keeping Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi, [Secretary-General of the Assembly of Combatant Clerics], on the electoral list of the Moderation and Development Party. Messrs. [Amir] Tehrani and Hashem [Alavi], deputies from the Ministry of Intelligence, visited. They were pleased that the new investigative team concluded that the confessions by the Chain Murders group regarding espionage, moral corruption, and other charges were false. However, they were concerned about the implications of the harsh actions of the first interrogation team and how the investigation should proceed.

The Central Council of the Islamic Students Association visited. They expressed gratitude for my return to the political scene and my significant contributions during the revolution, offering some suggestions and criticisms of the Ministry of Science and the Office for Strengthening Unity. I gave them a talk, and they were hosted for lunch at the office, with each receiving a copy of my memoirs.

At noon, Mohsen, Effat, Fatemeh, and Mohammad joined me for lunch at the office. Messrs. [Morteza] Ghorbani, [Hassan] Danaeifar, [Qasem] Soleimani, and [Ahmad] Kazemi called, requesting that I emphasize the need for Mr. Mohsen Rezaei to be reinstated on the Kargozaran list. I instructed Mohsen and Mohammad to convey to Mr. [Gholamhossein] Karbaschi, [Secretary-General of the Kargozaran Party], that removing Rezaei’s name was not a good decision.

In the afternoon, I officiated the marriage ceremony of Ms. Ghorayi, a colleague from Fatemeh's office. Members of the student wing of the Kargozaran Party visited, and I spoke to them about the importance of reconstruction efforts. Mr. [Mohammad Reza] Rahimi came with the results of a public opinion survey on the Tehran elections, showing me leading with 61%, followed by Reza Khatami and Fa'ezeh.

Hamid Bahrami also visited, denying rumors of his past collaboration with the Student Message magazine and seeking advice about a speech he is set to give in Rafsanjan next week. I advised him to avoid discussing past conflicts and disputes to reduce tensions. It was supposed to be a day of holding a critique session on the reconstruction era organized by the Office for Strengthening Unity at Amir Kabir University, but the university did not grant permission.

Meanwhile, the Israelis have been bombing Lebanon for several days in retaliation for Hezbollah’s successful operations. The situation with the hijacked Afghan plane in London continues. Four individuals have escaped from the plane, raising suspicions that they might be part of the hijackers.
