On Saturday, March 16, Carrie Lake, a senior adviser to the U.S. World Media Agency, republished Trump's executive order on reducing the federal bureaucracy, writing on Channel X that the order includes the U.S. Global Media Agency (USAGM) and its subsidiaries, including the Voice of America and the Cuban Broadcasting Bureau.

He called on the staff of these media outlets to "check their email immediately for more information."

According to an email sent to USAGM employees, including VOA, the U.S. Department of Human Resources announced that its employees have been placed on "full paid and paid administrative leave."
