Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, an opponent of the Pahlavi regime and a fighter in the 1957 Revolution, was accompanying Ayatollah Khomeini on the French aircraft.

Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, an opponent of the Pahlavi regime and a fighter in the 1979 Revolution, was accompanying Ayatollah Khomeini on the French aircraft; after the victory of the 1979 Revolution, he held positions such as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Managing Director of the National Iranian Radio and Television Organization, and member of the Council of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

This video clip from the documentary "Son of the Revolution" features the voice of Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, expressing his thoughts and feelings about Ayatollah Khomeini:

"In the first encounter, I felt that the figure, the mentor I had been searching for for years, was right in front of me—he exists, he is alive. He speaks. He is tangible.
Let me also say, at the same time, do not think for a moment that I am a brainwashed person; that is not the case at all. When I have an opinion, I state it very decisively. If I have a criticism, I say it. If my view opposes his, I speak up.
And I always have.
It’s not about those things."

Shortly after the victory of the Revolution, Ghotbzadeh was executed on charges of attempting to overthrow the Islamic Republic and planning the assassination of Ayatollah Khomeini.

I recommend watching this documentary; it is full of historical truths that are repetitive.
