Minister of Justice: According to the new bill on drug trafficking, all the assets of traffickers will be confiscated / Economic punishment may be more effective than execution.

The Minister of Justice, referring to the new bill to amend the anti-drug law, said: This bill anticipates that all the assets of the traffickers will be confiscated and seized, except for the reasonable living expenses that their families must have, and it seems that the deterrent effect of this issue is even greater than the death penalty. Another issue is the problem of visible drug addicts. According to the current law, the prosecutor has a certain period for holding these individuals and can also extend this period for a while, but ultimately this period ends and the prosecutor does not have the authority to keep these individuals until their full recovery.

This bill grants the prosecutor the authority to keep drug addicts in these centers until they have completely overcome their addiction, with the approval of specialized experts confirming that they will not return to the cycle of addiction. Therefore, no specific time frame has been set for this matter, and they can be held for as long as it takes for these requirements to be fully met.Recently, the Legal and Judicial Commission of the Parliament has become active to bring this issue to a conclusion. We, as the Ministry of Justice, are following up to turn this bill into law.
