Establishment of a Shareholders' Database from April 2025

The Director General of the Registration of Companies and Non-Commercial Institutions, Abolfazl Nasiri, stated in this regard: In Articles 8 and 9 of the Seventh Development Plan Law, a task has been assigned to the General Directorate of Companies Registration, which is related to the shareholders' database.

We have done some preliminary work in this regard, and it is a big project that prevents money laundering and the emergence of front and paper companies.

This work will start in April. This will help the Ministry of Economy and the Central Bank to identify those who abuse companies. We have to finish the work in 6 months to a year.

He added: "Until now, it was not clear who the major and common shareholders in different companies are and who are not shareholders, and they entered a company by mistake and misused it." By creating a shareholder database, the shareholders are identified, and when the person's name is entered in the system, it is known whether he is working in a company or not.

Creating a database of shareholders, especially shareholders above 25% of direct and indirect ownership of companies in accordance with the requirements of anti-money laundering regulations and publishing it in the Alliance system of the Companies Registration Office, is a positive and valuable step. I hope that the Companies Registration Office will expedite this work and make this issue operational within the next 6 months.
