Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – September 24, 1985

I went to the parliament. At 8:30 in the morning, Dr. [Hasan] Rohani and [Mohammed Ali] Hadi came to the parliament and gave a report on planning meetings for [strengthening] the defense of Khark Island. Regarding the discussion about closing the Strait of Hormuz in case of oil export interruption, they said that the naval and air forces and the IRGC were against it. It was decided to discuss more.

In the public session of the parliament, speakers spoke in favor of [Mr. Mirhossein Mousavi] the prime minister and sarcastically against the opinion of the president in opposition to the new prime minister. The main order of the parliament was the formation of the Ministry of Medicine and Health. While breathing, most of the references were about Khark Island and war. After the official meeting, I talked with the representatives about the situation of Khark and the war and oil export, and I told about the war policy. Mr. [Mohammed Ghori] Minister of Oil also spoke.

In the afternoon, Mr. Khair came to my office and spoke about the inefficiency of the Air Force in using the facilities of the Ministry of Oil, equipping radars and drones, etc., and spoke in defense of Mr. Makri and presented the case against him by the eighth department in a biased manner.

In the evening, a large group of fighters who came from the fronts came to meet and I spoke to them about the war in detail. They informed that Khark Island was attacked today and an oil tank was hit by a bomb and is burning. We agreed to go on a trip to Khark. Some are against this trip because of the dangers.

The Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution had a meeting. The inspection regulations of the council were approved and the status of the university publishing organization was determined.

After the prayer, we had a private meeting with Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei. They are ready to introduce Mr. [Mirhossein] Mousavi to the parliament, but they intend to be strict with the ministers. Probably, they will face problems in this case as in the previous case. We discussed the war, the IRGC, and the army. I participated in his religious meeting; Breastfeeding and lamentation and a long speech by Mr. Akrami - representative of Semnan - were held. After the meeting, in the presence of Mr. [Mousavi] Ardabili, we talked about [strengthening the air defense of the island] Khark. I came home late.
