Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – May 12, 1991

On the way to my office, I went to the heart hospital to visit Ayatollah Khamenei. They were awake, but usually asleep. They woke up for a moment, I greeted them. They said that sometimes severe pain occurs, which the doctors say is normal.

I went to my office. Dr. Majid Abbaspour came. He gave the report of S.M.R. industries [= chemical, microbial and radioactive defense] and asked for more credit. Mr. [Akbar] Turkan, [Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Support] came. He gave a report on the status of our demands from Germany and England regarding the suspended military contracts.

The meeting of the General Assembly of [Tehran] Metro [Company] was held in my presence. The purchase and construction of wagons and required fixed equipment were negotiated. It was decided to follow up due to the existence of new sources for the construction of metro equipment that did not participate in the tender and also to find a cheaper source.

In the evening, I attended the meeting of the government board. The report on the integration of police forces was on the order. Then I went to the heart hospital. Ayatollah Khamenei was sitting on a chair. While we were greeting each other, a video was taken for [TV] news. Their condition is improving and the doctors are satisfied. I ordered to announce the thanksgiving ceremony for the day after tomorrow.

I came home The children were gathered. They said that Yasir has recovered, but he is still in the hospital. He spoke on the phone. He asked a question about my team. Tayyaba's sister and relatives came. They are going to Syria. They went to visit Yasser. Chastity was gone at the end of the night.
