A group of members of the Central Council of the Islamic Association of University Teachers came; In fact, it is the continuation of the office of consolidation of unity. They expressed concern about the possibility of removing their faction and expressed opinions about universities and the [first five-year] program.

I warned them against adopting extreme positions that lead to their isolation and separation from the system and said that this is the way to preserve unity and not eliminate them. They brought a letter signed by some of their friends about the arrest of three of their friends.

Four university professors, as well as Mr. [Kamran and Farhad] students, came to introduce Mohsen. They gave a report on the formation of an informal group, with the aim of encouraging the movement towards science and technology and solving problems, and asked for help and support; I told them to communicate with Mohsen and let them know their needs.

Dr. [Mohsen] Nurbakhsh, [Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance] came. He is going to Soviet Azerbaijan; consulted for the issue of the gas sale contract and other issues; I said it should be consolidated. Considering that the appointment with the Soviet Union should not be confused and they should investigate the location of Iran's gas consumption and the possibility of extending the gas pipeline from there to Europe, and the cooperation of the governments of the Caspian Sea region, as well as the establishment of a bank there and the officialization of the Iranian rial there.

[Mr. Jean Travers], Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea [Conakry] came. He brought the letter of their president and they talked about the development of relations and the establishment of embassies. Mr. [Mahmoud] Vaezi said on the phone about the impossibility of an understanding between the Germans and the Lebanese regarding the release of two German hostages. I said that it should be done so that they will be released and the promise of tahfif to the prisoners of the Jihadi brothers is enough for the time being to pave the way for their release in the next stage.

In the evening, Naja inspectors [= Islamic Republic of Police Force] and the assembly of reciters and memorizers of the Quran and the reciters of Mashhad came. They implemented the program; I spoke to them and encouraged them. I worked until seven at night and came home.
