I went to the Parliament. On the way, I got the news. Mr. [Mir-Hossein Mousavi], the Prime Minister, who returned from New Delhi last night, called. He had come back satisfied. He said that despite the unfavorable atmosphere of the conference, where they mostly spoke in favor of Iraq, the outcome of the meeting had been in our favor; because there was nothing in the resolution about the war
I went to Parliament. On the way, I got the news. Mr. [Mir-Hossein Mousavi], the Prime Minister, who returned from New Delhi last night, called. He had come back satisfied. He said that despite the unfavorable atmosphere of the conference, where most speakers favored Iraq, the results of the meeting had been in our favor; because nothing about the war was included in the resolution, and the decision on the location of the eighth conference had been postponed to another time. The Iraqis had tried very hard to have decisions made in their favor on both issues, but they failed.
Before the parliamentary agenda began, I thanked the delegation for its efforts and announced the political victory. The general budget was approved, and the proposal for a one-twelfth budget was rejected.
At noon, Mr. [Abdolhamid Bagheri] Banabi came from Tabriz and complained about Mr. [Moslem] Malakouti and the Tabriz Revolutionary Guard. Mr. Hamidzadeh came and reported that Mr. Fazel Harandi had spoken before the Friday prayer sermon in my favor and against Mr. Azari [Qomi], and that the people had supported him with slogans. In the afternoon, I met with [Captain Bahram Afzali], the commander of the Navy. He spoke about his trip to Libya and had political questions; the captain is more political than military. Mr. Taheri Khorramabadi, who had come from Pakistan, visited me. He raised his needs: a larger budget, support and coordination from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and assistance for Iranian Sunni seminarians in Pakistan and students.
Until eight o'clock, I read the reports, and then I went home. Mr. Shahab from the Ministry of Oil informed me that they had extinguished two of the three burning Nowruz oil wells and were working on the third. It is an important and valuable achievement. It is unprecedented in Iran.
Mr. [Mohammad-Ali] Ansari from the Imam's office called and said he had written an article against our opponents and wanted to give it to the newspaper. I said it was not right. We should not fuel disagreements. A bill had been prepared in Parliament, following Mr. [Abdolkarim] Mousavi Ardebili's proposal, to limit houses to one per family. I said it would be better for the Supreme Judicial Council to submit it as a bill.
