Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – July 26, 1983

At eight in the morning, I met with the Imam. I discussed the meetings of parliamentary commissions with the Imam; they agreed. It was decided that two commissions would meet with him every month. We also talked a little about the recent issues of the (Voice and Vision of the Islamic Republic of Iran - state broadcasting), but I don't want to get into the details. The Supervisory Council of the has also written a letter to the Imam.

At half past nine in the morning, I went to the parliament. Mr. Yazdi managed the session until the break, and I sat among the representatives. During this time, representatives came to me for their work and did not let me follow the negotiations. After the break, the session went into a closed-door meeting, and the President spoke for an hour about the existing disagreements; they were good counsels. After the session, some of the representatives who had spoken harshly against Mr. [Habibollah] Asgaroladi [Minister of Commerce] from the parliament's rostrum in past disagreements, expressed their dissatisfaction with his remarks to me; however, the majority were satisfied.

In the afternoon, the Assembly of Experts [of the Leadership] had a session. On Tuesday's session of "Hezbollah Parliament," it was decided that the disagreements of the would be raised. A letter from the Imam to the heads of the three branches of government was delivered by Mr. [Mohammad Reza] Tavassoli, in which he tasked the heads with investigating and judging those disagreements and ordered those who accuse individuals in the Imam's household - Ahmad Aqa - of acting arbitrarily or influencing the Imam with suggestions, to repent. With this letter, the issue lost its intensity and was also removed from Tuesday's agenda. I stayed in the parliament at night and completed my pending tasks.
