I went to the Majlis early in the morning. I ate breakfast there. Reports said that our fighters had captured the Haj Omran barracks last night. I asked General Zahirnejad; on the contrary, he gave news of negative results. I told him the report, and he became flustered. A few minutes later, he confirmed my news. He cited the first news from the regional gendarmerie. I contacted the president. He knew that we had captured the important "King" height, but we had not completed the encirclement and had not taken the barracks. This news was correct. Before the agenda, I spoke about the success of the fighters and warned Saudi Arabia about its obstructionism in sending pilgrims; the Ministry of Islamic Guidance had asked me to do so. Two or three bills were passed. Three legal members of the Guardian Council were selected from among nine people - who had been introduced by the Supreme Judicial Council: Mr. [Khosrow] Bijani, Mr. [Seyed Jalaluddin] Madani [Kermani], and Mr. Hassan Fakhri.

At ten in the morning, I came to my office and signed the promotion decrees for the staff. Mr. [Ali Mohammad] Besharati came; he consulted about the interrogation of two representatives of the Assyrians and Armenians. The Revolutionary Guard Corps had identified them as members and supporters of the Tudeh Party. I said that the sanctity of the Majlis and the representatives must be observed. At noon, Mr. Niri, the head of national security, came. Documents from the Foreign Affairs Commission [of the Majlis] had been found on the Khorramshahr-Ahvaz train. We guessed that there was espionage involved. I summoned Mr. [Mohammad Ali] Hadi, the head of the Foreign Affairs Commission [of the Majlis]. He suspected that one of the Khuzestani representatives, who was responsible for this section of documents, had probably taken them with him to Khuzestan and lost them there. It was decided to follow up. A blind person from the Welfare Organization came and complained about the minister [advisor and head of the national Welfare Organization].

At four in the afternoon, people from the Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence came; they brought the results of the interrogations of the Tudeh members. About two thousand people had been arrested across the country. Two people had killed themselves. Confessions of espionage, infiltration, secret organization, receiving money from communist countries, forgery of documents, etc., and especially the thought of overthrowing the government, had been made, and many are ready to be interviewed. They are preparing the files for court. They consulted about the future and gave news of a new blow to the hypocrites and...

A group of staff from the Majlis telex and telephone office came. They had suggestions for improving work and devices and for more communication between representatives and the people. Mr. Faker came. He has stepped down from his representation of the Imam in the Revolutionary Guard Corps. He had a recommendation for preserving his achievements. He was worried about the future of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and opposed summoning Mr. Namazi, the commander of the Isfahan Revolutionary Guard Corps, to Tehran.

A group of staff from the ideological-political department of the Ministry of Defense and employees of the Social Security and Welfare Organization came. They reported, and I spoke to them.

Near sunset, I negotiated with Mr. Seyed Hadi Khamenei about more cooperation with the [Islamic Republic] Party and issues of the Majlis and the Union of Islamic Student Associations - which he has been invited to head.

Early at night, a brigade of fighters who had been mobilized by the revolutionary committees and were heading to the front came; I gave a speech to them.

Today, Messrs. [Seyed Reza] Zavare'i, [Gholamreza] Aghazadeh, and [Mir Hossein Mousavi] the Prime Minister, spoke about the dismissal of my brother Mohammad from the management of IRIB by the Supervisory Council. Dr. [Hassan] Rouhani has been appointed in his place and has encountered problems. Dr. [Hassan] Rouhani is hesitant; I told Mohammad to accept.

At night, the news of Mohammad's resignation and the temporary headship of Mr. [Mohammad Javad] Larijani was announced; I was surprised. At ten o'clock, I came home; Mr. [Mousavi] Ardabili called and said that the Imam was angry and had ordered the immediate dismissal of the Supervisory Council. Ahmad Agha also said the same thing on the phone; I said I would not interfere. Mr. Rouhani asked for an appointment.
