Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – July 17, 1983

After prayers, in the courtyard of the house, I started studying and cleaning the pool. I chlorinated the water, it is clean. After breakfast, Mohsen went to the Atomic Energy Organization for work. His university has agreed that he should spend a month of work-training in Iranian institutions. At 3:30, I went to the parliament. Mr. Taheri Khorramabadi came to the office. We talked about the quality of the [parliament] Experts Assembly meeting and his decision to transfer Mr. Namazi, the Imam's representative in the Sepah of Isfahan, to Tehran, to help and also solve Isfahan's problem. They said Mr. Faker is no longer cooperating.

At four o'clock, the [parliament] Assembly of Experts [Leadership] meeting began. I wished Mr. Meshkini would lead it himself; it was not possible. I reluctantly helped. We approved eight articles of the regulations. I stayed in the parliament at night. Mr. Bahrami came and was terrified of being attacked and asked for help.

A person named Hesari from Neyshabur came; he had a plan to protect the borders with an automatic weapon. I introduced him to the [Army] Advisory Office. Mr. [Jalal] Sadatian informed that Mr. Tahmasebi's automatic tankette had been successfully tested in Isfahan. I read the reports and did the administrative work. I wanted to have dinner with the guests; they informed me that they had already eaten dinner. I contacted the Imam's office. I arranged a meeting time for the [members of the parliament] Experts Assembly with the Imam. Mr. Kamal Kharazi [Head of War Propaganda] came and announced the imminent attack [of Islamic fighters]; we determined the propaganda axis.
