Mr. Mohsen Rezaei [commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] complained by telephone about Mr. [Asadollah] Lajevardi [Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor], saying that he had stationed several people at the intelligence information-gathering office. He said that the IRGC had dealt a blow to the Mojahedin in the north. Mr. Rabbani Amolashi also said by telephone that many people's interpretation of the Imam's remarks yesterday was that he had alluded to the Ministry of Commerce's inability to manage affairs. I said, I think the Imam's view was general and did not concern any particular case. I asked Mr. [Asadollah] Lajevardi for an explanation regarding the IRGC's intelligence operations; he replied that, by a decision of the Supreme Judicial Council, it had been decided that the prosecutor's office would control the wiretaps; because some wiretaps are contrary to Islamic law.
In the afternoon, I went to the Majles. I performed a marriage ceremony; one of the officials of Jihad [Construction] from Firuzkuh was marrying the wife of a martyr. I gave them several books as gifts. The bride's family has given several martyrs. I went to the President's office for a meeting [to review] the distribution [of goods] and resolve [the issue of] inflation. This meeting lasted until ten at night. There was much discussion about granting import permits to those who have their own foreign currency. It was agreed to some extent. It was decided that they would draft the plan and bring it. The proposal was mine. I also presented another proposal that we establish a free port somewhere in the country. We will discuss it later. We approved the regulations for the purchase and sale of rice; government control will increase.
After the meeting, I spoke with [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei about the political currents that are visible, with a group in the government and a group in the Majles and other individuals from Isfahan coordinating with one another, and also about the Ministry of Intelligence and the [Hojjatieh] Association. [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei said that after the Imam's remarks, the [Hojjatieh] Association had felt threatened and was ready to announce its dissolution, but wanted it to be by the Imam's order, and Mr. [Mahmoud] Halabi [leader of the Hojjatieh Mahdaviyeh Charitable Association] had written a letter to the Imam. I suspect that the Imam will not issue such an order; they themselves should take action. I came home late. Relatives were guests. We discussed the disputes in Rafsanjan for a while.
