In the afternoon, Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiqdoost came and spoke about the imminence of a new attack. Their maintenance is under a joint commission of the Revolutionary Guard, the Air Force, and the Prime Minister's Office, and they contain sophisticated equipment that the Americans had brought during the Shah's era to monitor the Soviet Union, and after the Revolution they had disabled them before leaving. We have managed to decipher their codes. Mr. Bahadoran came and complained that a group of Iraqi Kurds who had captured several Westerners in Iraq were not receiving attention from the Revolutionary Guard.

Early in the evening, the Friday prayer leaders of Gorgan, Nowshahr, Chalus, and... came and spoke about the danger of the influence and power of the right-wingers following the Imam's remarks regarding Parliament and the Guardian Council.
Mr. Khorram, Iran's ambassador to China, came. He reported on the situation in China and spoke about the Chinese interest in expanding relations with Iran and the Third World. A group of officials responsible for intelligence training in the Revolutionary Guard came and presented a report on developments in training ideological intelligence cadres, and I spoke to them.
