The Imam was pleased with the way the elections had been conducted and with the state of the country, and said that the Revolution had been consolidated and that he could die peacefully and be confident about the future. I said that Iran and the Revolution owed a great deal to him and needed him greatly, and that we hoped his presence would remain over us for many years to come. We discussed with him how to deal with the issue of Palestine and the Palestinians, as well as the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, the Islamic Republican Party, and other matters. The Imam was in good spirits.
I spent the rest of the day studying. In the evening, Mr. [Abdolmajid] Moadi-Khah came, and we discussed establishing a center under his supervision for writing the history of the Revolution and which official institution it should come under. He suggested that it be affiliated with either the Presidency or the Imam's office. Ahmad Agha called and was concerned that in many places the elections would require a second round, making things difficult; but under the current law, we have no alternative.
