Jamaran states: "The remarks, as mentioned, where the Imam invites the people of Iraq to fight against Saddam, are clearly intended for after the onset of the war. The aim of the Leader of the Revolution was to garner support from the Iraqi people to strengthen Iran's front and, as he put it, to 'stab Saddam in the back.'"
