Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, agreed to the request of the head of the judiciary to pardon, reduce, or commute the sentences of two thousand convicts from the courts on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir.

Mohseni-Ejei, in his letter to the leader of the Islamic Republic, had requested the pardon, reduction, or commutation of sentences for two thousand convicts from public and revolutionary courts, the judicial organization of the armed forces, and government disciplinary tribunals.

It is worth noting that proposals for the pardon or commutation of sentences for convicts of the Special Clerical Court are usually proposed and applied non-publicly by the appointed prosecutor of this court to the leader, and no information is available regarding that proposal.
