Araghchi: Indirect negotiations with the United States can guarantee a real and effective dialogue

In response to a question about the news about the holding of indirect talks between high-ranking delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America in Oman, the Foreign Minister said: "As announced and I announced in a tweet last night, the talks will be held in Oman on Saturday." These negotiations will take place indirectly, and we will not accept any other way of negotiations.

In my opinion, the importance of the form of negotiations, whether direct or indirect, is not in the first place. What really matters is whether the negotiations are effective or ineffective, the seriousness of the parties and their intentions, and their will to reach an agreement.

In this context, we consider the form of negotiations to be subject to various issues, and that is why we have chosen indirect negotiations. The reason for this choice is that the negotiations in which they impose their points through pressure and threats are in fact dictating, and we do not believe in this method. Indirect negotiation can guarantee a genuine and effective dialogue. We will proceed in this way."
