In Iran, under the current conditions, we are facing two negative phenomena: recession and inflation.

Neither inflation nor recession is decisive compared to another important issue, which is the outlook for the future. The main issue is actually the perspective on the future. If there is hope for it, recession and inflation, although difficult, can be tolerated. But when there is no outlook, the difficulty of enduring recession and inflation multiplies.

Recent statements by the country's officials convey the message that it seems we have no way out of the current situation.

We are in a state of suspension. I hope this situation is still changeable. How? First and foremost, the will for change must be formed. If such a will is established, the following approaches are essential: transparency in explaining the crises, even if bitter; accepting the participation of society and elites in decision-making; prioritizing the future over the present and taking a long-term view over the short-term; scientific reforms in the management of water, energy, and the economy.
