Of course, this is not the first time that Hemmati's command has raised the price of the currency. The value of the national currency fell by 75 percent in 2020 alone, one year after Abdolnasser Hemmati's tenure at the Central Bank.
It is interesting that Hemmati was a strong critic of the exchange rate increase in the government before the government. In May 2023, he stated: Is it defensible to record 160 percent inflation and 58 percent depreciation of the national currency in 30 months with $35 billion in oil revenues?
