On the occasion of the birthdays of the Prophet Muhammad and Imam Ja'far Sadegh, the head of the judiciary sent a letter to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, requesting pardon, reduction, and commutation of sentences for 2,577 convicts of public and revolutionary courts, the judicial organization of the armed forces, and the government disciplinary organization. Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, left the decision on this matter to the head of the judiciary.
As announced, Sheikh Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje'i, after conducting the necessary reviews, issued orders to the relevant authorities within the judiciary and the respective prosecutors to implement his own proposal for pardon, reduction, and commutation of sentences for these convicts.
