A management shake-up in the supervisory bodies of Mashhad Municipality; has the domino effect of dismissals reached the security office? What is the story behind the mayor’s drug test?

Amid the ambiguous developments in urban management and following the earlier dismissal of the Director General of the Mashhad Municipality Inspection Office due to the disclosure of misconduct cases, today “Mohammad Khoran,” the head of the municipality’s security office, was also removed from his position.

An event that observers are likely assessing as a continuation of managerial purges surrounding the controversial case concerning the verification of authenticity and allegations of forgery and substitution of documents in the drug test of the current mayor of Mashhad.

The legal dimensions of this matter had previously also been referred for inquiry at the highest oversight levels and reflected to the competent official authorities, such that the Military Prosecutor of Razavi Khorasan Province, in an official letter numbered ۴۱۷۴-۷۷۸-م-م dated ۱۴۰۴/۰۷/۳۰, sent the matter to the Chairman of the Mashhad City Council for registration and legal review.

How have the oversight organizations at the national level and in Razavi Khorasan Province, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Razavi Khorasan Province, and the relevant and various agencies involved, when confronted with such official correspondence, ongoing disputes, and a matter that clearly entails aspects of a public crime/misconduct, failed to take decisive measures and instead remained silent?

Has the continuation of this delay and inaction in the face of a case at the level of the urban management of the metropolis of Mashhad, with such administrative and judicial sensitivity, not made the need for the immediate intervention of the competent authorities to clarify the matter and safeguard the standing of urban management all the more urgent?
