This note is a "Post-April Fools' Day" joke and holds no news value!

During the 12-day war and the recent war, I explicitly wrote twice: "Lest the investigation into (all dimensions of) the Zavieh Financial Group case be forgotten." This indicated, and continues to indicate, its extraordinary importance and sensitivity.

In the midst of the war and during this year’s Nowruz holidays—while government offices and even supervisory and judicial bodies were either on standby or closed—the General Inspection Office (GIO) made an announcement regarding the tax evasion and money laundering case of this group. While many staff members of the supervisory departments of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and the National Tax Administration, as well as the expert investigators, were working remotely, the GIO declared: "No misconduct occurred in the investigation process by the Ministry of Economy and the Tax Administration to uncover these crimes!" and subsequently archived the case within that organization. In effect, it withdrew from exercising the supervision that is its inherent duty.

Note that the GIO’s opinion was issued even before the investigator of the 1st Branch of the Government Employees' Prosecutor's Office could begin judicial inquiries after the files were returned from the Special Clerical Court. It remains to be seen what independent actions the government employees' investigator will take and to "what extent and limit?" the judicial investigation will be pursued.

Furthermore, the group's initial indictment must be returned to the court with a revised bill of indictment upon completion of the court-ordered investigations; however, this has been slightly delayed at the International Affairs Prosecutor's Office due to the state of war and remote work arrangements.

The investigation into the involvement and interventions of the backers (none of whom may still be alive due to recent crises!!!) will not be conducted according to the original intentions or even according to the Criminal Procedure Code, and the extent of their potential involvement will not be examined.

The Eskandari-Nia family and other nominal defendants mentioned in the judicial case are safe and sound, as their presence, health, and survival are deemed necessary and more expedient. Perhaps—and I emphasize "perhaps"—none of the current individuals accused are fully aware of all the dimensions and cover-up schemes involved, including the currently living "master-key" intermediary.

Now, Branch 1035 of the Criminal Court II of Tehran must address the charges against Mohsen Eskandari-Nia and the objections of private plaintiffs regarding the dismissal of charges against other defendants at a time when, seemingly, the backers no longer exist. Previously, all their connections were officially denied and refuted by the highest security and protection agencies, and out of "respect!!," no one will delve into the matter further to verify such denials.

The Prosecutor and the Investigator of the Government Employees' Prosecutor's Office will also likely not delve deeply into the details of the new tax evasion and money laundering charges, similar to the judicial decision made to issue a non-prosecution order for the President of the National Tax Administration and the former head of the Center for Combating Tax Evasion and Money Laundering.

The reason for all this negligence and stalling is now becoming clearer, despite all the judicial, supervisory, and security orders and the directives from the highest officials of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance to investigate the tax evasion of these companies. They did not even have the courage to report that "this group has no tax evasion."

And perhaps, perhaps, perhaps (at least not anytime soon), the potential and fronting role of this so-called "financial group" in the exceptionally important and historical crises of this period of the Islamic Republic, both inside and outside the country, will not be addressed by any of the involved parties!
