Mobile phone commercial profits decline

Following the increase in the approved calculated exchange rate of imported goods, the Cabinet of Ministers changed the commercial profits of a number of goods, including mobile phones.

With the change in the calculation rate of exchange for importing goods from 28,500 tomans to 68,700 tomans, the cabinet in its meeting on March 30, 2025, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, amended the commercial profits of 240 items.

These tariff amendments included decreasing and increasing commercial profits, separation, creation, deletion and amendment of the tariff description and the contents of the notes of some chapters of the book of export and import regulations.

The government's decree states:

"Due to the increase in the exchange rate based on the calculation of import duties in accordance with the budget law of 1404 of the whole country, after the changes mentioned in paragraph (1) of this approval, the commercial profit of the tariff codes of the attached tables will be reduced."

Accordingly, the commercial profit of smartphones with a value of less than 150 euros has been set at 6 percent, and phones with a value higher than 600 euros has been set at 5 percent. The commercial profit of these goods was previously 11 percent.

In addition, the commercial profits of wired and optical modems and SIM cards have increased from 11% to 16%.

Also, commercial profits for LCD and LED monitors between 14 and 32 inches increased from 16 percent to 21 percent.
