Farukh Tayrov, the new representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Islamic Republic of Iran, officially began his mission on Sunday, June 4, by presenting his credentials in a formal meeting with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, our Minister of Foreign Affairs.Tayrov, originally from Tajikistan, has over 20 years of professional experience in international development and agricultural planning. His diplomatic mission in Iran marks a new chapter in FAO's cooperation aimed at strengthening collaboration in areas such as agricultural production and productivity, fisheries, food safety, sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.Before his appointment in Iran, he held positions such as Deputy FAO Representative in Pakistan and Head of FAO's Provincial Office in Peshawar and was responsible for implementing various programs in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia (Chechnya), Somalia, Ukraine, and Pakistan.The appointment of the FAO representative reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to working with Iran to achieve national development priorities.
