Joint statement of 50 businesses in the field of cryptocurrency after the destructive actions of the Central Bank and restrictions on payment gateways in cryptocurrency exchanges: Such actions are a clear example of opposition to the private sector

On Thursday, December 27, 2024, the Central Bank blocked the payment gateways of cryptocurrency exchange platforms in a non-expert move and without prior notice. Previously, on October 25 of this year, the Central Bank had blocked the bank accounts of cryptocurrency exchange platforms under the pretext of managing the foreign exchange market, which caused dissatisfaction among users and our compatriots for many days.

What is certain is that such actions are a clear example of opposition to the private sector and efforts to weaken and destroy the healthy business environment in the country, which unfortunately has not been met with any reaction and cost from the government so far.

For the third time, millions of Iranian users have been deprived of their most obvious right, which is to use the domestic platform and invest! A development that means blocking a lifeline for transparent platforms, and for underground and non-transparent markets, it is a green light for the expansion of activity!

Mr. Pezeshkian, Honorable President, you have repeatedly said that people should be given hope in order to build a better future. Today, the private sector is frustrated as a result of such wrong practices, and it seems that it has to deal with self-made filtering on the artery of the country's digital economy. These negative and destructive decisions in the policy making of new technologies, the creation of unnecessary restrictions and an unexpert view, not only destroy Iran's limited opportunity for economic growth through new technologies, but also drive away the country's most important asset, namely capable human resources.

Today's decisions change not only the people's capital, but also the economic paths of future generations. If we do not take care of our rights today, our opportunities to achieve a transparent and sustainable economy may be limited tomorrow.
