Early in the morning, I went to the public session of the parliament and we started the session half an hour earlier. The continuation of the discussion about [the vote of confidence in] the cabinet was on the agenda. I also spoke in favor of all the ministers. The ministers defended themselves as well. We voted. We took a break for counting. I was very tired. Until three thirty.

The continuation of the discussion regarding [the vote of confidence in] the cabinet was on the agenda. I also spoke in favor of all the ministers. The ministers defended themselves as well. We held a vote. We took a break to count the votes. I was very tired. I rested until three thirty.
At four o’clock, the session officially resumed to announce the result of the vote. 22 people had received votes, and two gentlemen, [Hossein] Nili and [Hossein] Namazi [the ministers proposed for Mines and Metals and Economic and Asset Affairs], did not receive sufficient votes. The Prime Minister and I also gave brief speeches. The formation of the new cabinet was carried out well. If Imam had not intervened, we would have faced a fundamental problem. It benefited the hardliners more than the moderates.
In the afternoon, I attended the meeting of the Central Council of the Combatant Clergy. The discussion was about why the moderates opposed Imam’s opinion and were weakened. Gentlemen Mahdavi [Kani], Mohaedi Kermani, and Anvari explained their positions. In the evening, I went to the Parliament. Today, Iraq attacked several of our oil and gas pumping stations and damaged some of them.
