As usual, the children went to school at seven-thirty, and Faezeh went to her entrance exam prep class. I called my office to reserve a plane ticket for Effat, who wants to go to Rafsanjan to bring the bride. It was decided that they would leave tomorrow morning.

At noon, Ahmad Agha came; he had nothing important to discuss. In the afternoon, a group of Revolutionary Guards from Nouq and Rafsanjan, who serve as guards at Imam's residence, came and complained that throughout the entire five months they have been here, they have not managed to kiss the Imam's hand.

Early in the evening, Abu Hisham [Seyyed Hossein Mousavi], one of the leaders of Lebanon's Islamist Amal movement, came with a group of his companions. They asked about their future and what they should do. They are worried that the Lebanese army may attack the Beqaa to carry out a purge. I consulted Mr. Khamenei by phone about this, and it was decided that they should be told that if they do not have the strength to resist, they should not engage in armed resistance. They wanted the Imam's representative or a religious authority designated by the Islamic Republic to serve as the authority for resolving disputes and making decisions during this stage in Lebanon, so that whether they fight or remain silent would have religious legitimacy.

I spoke with Mr. [Mohammad] Salmati, the Minister of Agriculture, about the decision to relocate the Moghan slaughterhouse to Ardabil. He explained the reason. I informed Mr. [Mohammad Ali] Shar'i, who had objected. I also spoke with the governor of the Central Bank about granting loans to cooperatives.
