Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – November 10, 1982

I was at home until three in the afternoon. Ahmad Agha came and was concerned about efforts being made against figures such as Messrs. [Seyyed Mohammad] Mousavi-Khoiniha and [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami and... Last night Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Mousavi-Khoiniha had also told me the same thing. I also wrote the remaining memoirs.

In the afternoon, the Parliament's presiding board held a meeting. Decisions were made to adjust the salaries of Parliament employees, eliminate discrimination, and increase the salaries of ordinary employees. Since the committees have moved ahead and their reports have accumulated, it was decided that in the coming weeks we would have four public sessions.

They came from the Friday Prayer headquarters, and we discussed building a large prayer center in Abbasabad and the budget for Friday prayers and its publicity. I stayed in Parliament at night and studied the lesson on positions and listened to the news.

Late at night they called to say that Effat had suffered a heart problem and Imam's physician had transferred her to the hospital. I inquired at the hospital; they said it was a nervous ailment and that her heart was healthy, and that after being examined she had returned home. Mr. [Mohammad] Emami-Kashani came and consulted about the subjects of next Friday's sermons. New victories have been reported on the front [Operation] Muharram, inside Iraqi territory.
