Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – May 31, 1993

A group of writers and artists from the Children's Intellectual Development Center and other centers that work for children came. They reported the work and needs. I also spoke.

Dr. [Syed Hossein] Fattahi and his wife, Dr. [Qodsieh] Alavi, the representatives of Mashhad, came for the problems of Mashhad city and asked for women to be more active in the society. They expressed their readiness to examine and treat the chastity that they had heard was boring.

[Mr. Mohammad Nasser Tuslizadeh], the representative of Torbat Heydarieh, came. He asked Torbat for civil matters and thanked me for my positions. [Mr. Ismail Nowrozi], the representative, [Mr. Naqi Vahidi], Imam Juma and also the governor of Euclid came and asked for the city's cultural and civil affairs. The assembly of representatives of West Azarbaijan province came. Each of them spoke separately from their constituencies and they all asked for help for civil works and flood damage.

In the evening, the Economic Council had a meeting. A decision was made for the issues of pharmaceutical industries and the purchase of airplanes. I used the pool last night.

[Mr. Abdullah Nouri], the Minister of the Interior, informed that the speech of Mr. [Ahmed] Tawakli, the presidential candidate, has some regulatory problems for television, and he took responsibility; I told them to try to solve it and spread it.

On the way home, I heard from the car TV that the Ministry of Interior has announced that the speech is not in accordance with the law and will not be broadcast for correction. I came home I told Mr. Nouri that it would be better to broadcast it tonight, which was broadcast [one hour] late.
