We also consulted and made decisions about the responsibilities of the party and the army. I went to parliament; before the agenda, I spoke about Saddam's crime in Baneh. The important item on the agenda was the bill to transfer the operation of garages at ports and centers for the entry of goods from abroad from the private sector to the government, which remained unfinished; the opponents are stronger. At noon, I officiated at the marriage of one of Mr. [Morteza] Alviri's [Damavand representative] relatives.
In the afternoon, I met with the officials of the revolutionary committees. I spoke to them. Mr. Sheikh Ghodrat Alikhani came and spoke about the eastern borders' need for aid and supplies, and about the grievance of a group of representatives against me—that the Imam's recent remarks had been directed at them; they have wrongly thought that I was the one who prompted the Imam.
I met with Ayatollah Montazeri's representatives at the universities; I spoke to them about the delicacy of their work and the need to reconcile preserving the specialists with the revolutionary youth, and raised the possibility that opponents might seek through this means to weaken the relationship between the seminary and the university. The president of Shiraz University came and asked for help in establishing a center for training eye specialists and corneal transplantation—for which Dr. Khodadoust is willing to come to Iran from America. At night, at the office of [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei, we had a meeting with Mr. [Mir-Hossein Mousavi], the prime minister, about how to conduct the sessions for resolving the disputes, and other issues were also discussed.
