I stayed at home. Most of the time was spent studying the Tower report. I had telephone discussions with Dr. Velayati, Ahmad Agha, [Alireza] Afshar, [Ali] Shamkhani, Reyshahri, and [Seyed Ali Asghar] Hejazi regarding war and political affairs and the dispatch of forces [to the front]. We were supposed to be guests at Mr. Ardabili's for Iftar, but I didn't go.

Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Doost came for the Ministry of the Revolutionary Guards’ affairs. He brought a list of the products ordered by the Revolutionary Guard’s military industries and complained about the slow budget payments as well as the repetitive work of S.A.S.D. [= Defense Industries Organization]. The problems occurring in the management of the Revolutionary Guard were discussed.
In the evening, Mr. Shamkhani [Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guard and Commander of the Ground Forces] came. I asked him the reason for his resignation. There was no significant explanation, except that he is tired and, as they wish, their demands regarding the army and war facilities are not being considered. They do not pay attention to the country's problems and think that in order to provide for the war, other affairs of the country should not be considered.
The children were guests for Iftar. I stayed with Efat, and news arrived that Faezeh had been taken to the hospital for childbirth. Efat and Fati also went.
