At nine-thirty, I went to Parliament. Mr. Emad-ed-Din Karimi, representative of Nowshahr, spent half an hour pouring his heart out about the shortages in his constituency. At noon, an officer among Iraqi refugees who is fighting on the southern front came. He said nearly four hundred Iraqis are fighting at the front and was satisfied. However, he believed there were many non-purely Islamic individuals, and the group of Iyad Sa'id Thabit—who were hired with money from among Iraqi expellees—dispersed because they suffered four casualties. He believed Iyad Sa'id is a Ba'athist and had been in charge of party branches on behalf of Saddam. He complained that customs was preventing his car from entering Iran, and about bureaucratic red tape in government offices. Saddam executed his wife after his escape, and the rest of his family came to Iran. He is from the Da'wa Party.
We spoke with Mr. Rajai regarding the proposals of the Non-Aligned Peace Delegation. They have proposed creating a demilitarized zone on Iranian soil along with the withdrawal of Iraqi forces. Some military personnel and Mr. Bani-Sadr are inclined to accept it with modifications.
In the evening, at the party's Student Branch meeting, I gave a speech regarding the evolution of management after the Revolution and answered their questions.
Since I was fasting, I headed home earlier, but arrived a bit late. Effat was also fasting, had prepared a good iftar, and was waiting for me. On the way, I ate a few figs that Aqa Jalal had bought. Effat, who thought I was full and would eat little of her good food, was not pleased that I had broken my fast on the way, and she was right, as she herself had delayed her iftar.
At night, Ahmad Aqa Mar'ashi came and requested recommendations for Messrs. Barkhordar and Ahmadi (the judge), and complained about Mr. Fahim.
