Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – March 20, 1993

I was at home. The time passed by resting and studying and visiting relatives. I talked to Hajiya Waldeh on the phone to ask them to be here for the year of delivery; It turned out that they were supposed to be in the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) in Qom.

In the afternoon, Efat was revising the draft of her speech at the gathering of first ladies of Islamic countries in Türkiye. The wife of Mr. [Turgut] Özal, [President of Türkiye], has invited for the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina; We have also accepted.

They brought the reports. The large and unprecedented presence of the Palestinian people in the Quds Day ceremony in the occupied territories is important despite the pressure and propaganda and the early return of the Israeli Prime Minister from America to control the situation. The speech of Mr. [Boris] Yeltsin, the President of Russia, is also important. It is expected that they will announce an extraordinary decision in connection with the Russian Parliament, which has seriously disturbed him and could lead to important issues.

Near Iftar, the ceremony of handing over the year was broadcasted on TV. We sat down to watch. Sara and Fati arranged a classy Haft Sein, which was held in the presence of Efat and Fati, Saeed, Sara, Ali, Kazem, and Sakineh, our old maid. I gave a short feast. Later Mahdi and Fereshte also arrived.

I listened to the message of Ayatollah Khamenei and myself at the moment of delivery. The audience believes that it is too long and should be shorter. I was interested in announcing the decision of the United Nations for "Earth and Peace Day" at the moment of delivery of the Iranian year, as the starting moment; For proving the correctness of the beginning of the year in all calendar points of the whole world. At night, a group of relatives came.
