I also spoke about the importance of the working class across all societies throughout history, the Revolution's dedication to workers, the religiosity and loyalty of workers, and the services that the Revolution has rendered in elevating their stature and securing their rights.

I went to my office. [Mr. Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain], a prominent merchant from Kuwait, arrived. He brought a message from the Amir of Kuwait expressing gratitude for my role in improving relations with the southern Arab countries—especially for the position my administration took against Iraq's aggression toward Kuwait, despite our resentment over Kuwait's support for Saddam's aggression against Iran during the eight-year war. He gave a report on several conferences he had organized to promote Arabic poetry and send students abroad, as well as a conference on Saadi that they are hosting in Tehran this year, along with the translation of Saadi's Persian poetry into Arabic and his Arabic poetry into Persian at his own expense; he invited me to attend the conference.
The Tehran Clergy Association [Jame'eh-ye Va'az-e Tehran] arrived. Mr. [Seyed Reza] Akrami, [Secretary of the Tehran Clergy Association], spoke and criticized the situation regarding the cultural onslaught, security, and the country's economy. I also spoke at length about the role of the clergy in history and the Revolution, the necessity of paying attention to the requirements of the times, and maintaining warm relations with the people. I presented each of them with a copy of the book [Hashemi Rafsanjani: Record and] Memoirs of the Year 1360 – Crossing the Crisis.
My brother Mohammad, [Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Central Council of the Construction Servants Party], came and said that the Servants of Construction plan to become more active, and that after speaking with you, their hopes and the likelihood of your participation in the parliamentary elections have increased. He also mentioned that the Supreme Leader ordered the theft from his home to be investigated, and General [Farhad] Nazari, [Commander of Tehran Law Enforcement Forces], has initiated the investigation.
In the evening, Mr. [Ali] Fallahian, [member of the Assembly of Experts], arrived. He is deeply upset by the pressure left- and right-leaning newspapers are exerting on him regarding the [serial] murders and Saeed Emami's suicide. He provided an account of how Saeed [Emami] was hired and promoted, stating that Messrs. Saeed Hajjarian and [Mohammad Mohammadi] Reyshahri, [former Minister of Intelligence], had elevated him to the level of director-general. He is also deeply aggrieved with the Supreme Leader for calling him responsible in private discussions and instructing Mr. Younesi to follow up on it. His views do not differ from the statements recently made by Mr. [Ruhollah] Hosseinian
