Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – June 26, 1989

At 6:30 in the morning, we went to Shafa Yahyayan Hospital to take pictures of the waist. Doctors [Behrouz] Maulvi, [Mohammed Saleh] Ganjovian, [Hossein] Jazayeri and [Daud] Jafari, the head of the hospital, also supervised. They took many photos and checked. It turned out that I don't have a disc, and there is a curve in the lower vertebra, which puts pressure on the nerve and produces pain when I get a little fat and the belly gets bigger.

I returned to the parliament. I did the work. In the reports, there is still a lot of discussion about traveling to the Soviet Union, and Westerners have become inactive. Mr. Seyyed Ahmed Mousavi [Iranian ambassador in Beirut] came. The issues of Lebanon were discussed. Mr. [Mohammed Ali] Nazaran [Secretary of the Supreme Defense Council] came and demanded the approval of the organization of the Secretariat of the Supreme Defense Council.

Mr. [Mohsen] Rezaei and [Ali] Shamkhani came. They had suggestions about the quality of the distribution of Soviet weapons. Mr. [Amir] Mir, the representative of Zahedan, came and brought a proposal from someone who claims that he can fix the issue of Hajj and taking our property from America. I said that if he solves the Hajj issue, we will start talking.

I slept for an hour after taking painkillers in the afternoon. In the evening, I went to the [26th Plenary Meeting] of the [Constitutional] Revision Council. Several principles of concentration in the executive branch were approved. I returned to the parliament. I worked until nine in the evening and came home. My foot is uncomfortable.
