Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – February 9, 1990

I went to the [Mehrabad] airport at a quarter to eight. We flew to Kangan. Mr. [Gholamreza] Aghazadeh, [Mohsen] Nourbakhsh, [Akbar] Turkan, [Abdul Hossein] Wahaji and [Ali] Shamkhani and... were with me. At a quarter to ten, we entered the Kangan airport.

We saw the area from the air with a helicopter. A gas well, a separation center and the first unit of the first phase were opened. The first phase has four units, each of which refines ten million meters of gas per day. It has 24 wells, each of which gives two million meters of gas. We visited different parts by car and got explanations in each part.

At the lunch table, the governor and governor of Jam and Riz [from Bandar Kangan] and Imam Juma of Kangan talked about the region's issues and needs, and decisions were made to remove the deprivations.

After prayer and rest, I spoke to the staff. Then we went to the small area with a helicopter. We went to the jam center and I participated and spoke in the enthusiastic gathering of people. We flew to Tehran at quarter past five. On the way, there was a discussion with the ministers about the way to remove the administrative and executive obstacles of the five-year plan and important plans. A radio and television interview was conducted at Tehran [Mehrabad] airport. I arrived home at half past seven.
