Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – February 27, 1985

After the prayer, I went to the assembly. Notes two and three [of the budget law] were discussed in the public session of the parliament. The representatives give many suggestions and slow down the work. Because there is no limit [in presenting the proposals of the representatives about the note]. Before noon, I came to my office.

In the evening, the board of directors had a meeting. I went to visit Mr. Rabbani Amlashi in the hospital. He is supposed to go to Switzerland for treatment tomorrow. He bequeathed some plots of land in Qom as khums and asked me to provide the legal means of transferring it to students. I came home in the evening.

At night, the chiefs of forces, Ayatollah Montazeri and Ahmad Agha were my guests. Mr. Ahmad came earlier. He quoted the Imam's statements in the meeting with Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei about the party. It is harsh and negative towards the party. It is almost a clear opposition to the continuation of the [Islamic Republic] party, but it seems that Imam does not want to accept the responsibility of shutting down the party.

In the meeting, Mr. Montazeri expressed his criticisms regarding the practical promotion of smoking, unaccounted trips abroad, unaccounted imports of fibers and lack of order in imports and other materials, and they were answered. They were upset with the Imam's statements and they were also complaining about us, who, in their opinion, were not serious in accompanying him; But with Mr. [Mousavi] Ardabili's explanation that the imam agrees to continue the work of the party with the condition of accuracy, and our statements, they calmed down a little.

Around 12 o'clock at night, the meeting ended and Mr. Montazeri went to Qom. Efat had participated in Hamid Mohidini's marriage ceremony on the first night. But he came to prepare food and receive guests.
