The domestic and foreign media have extensively covered the events of yesterday's University of Tehran and the speech of Mr. Khatami, and because of the extensive propaganda of the 2nd of Khordadi, there were expectations that Mr. Khatami would say something new.

Mr. Mehdi Abdolkhodaei, [Secretary General of the Fadaiyan Islamic Association] and Dr. [Abbas] came to Sarshar. They insist that I participate in the anniversary of the martyrdom of Navab [Safavi] in Mazandaran. They said that the government's foreign exchange aid to the textile industry does not cure the pain and may even fuel corruption; they have a textile factory in Semnan.
Mr. [Morteza] Moqtadaei, the former Prosecutor General, came. He strongly complained about Mr. [Hashemi] Shahroudi, [Head of the Judiciary], for the insulting behavior he had behaved during his tenure, as well as for the arrest of his son on trumped-up charges and for defaming his family, and said that Shahram Jazari, who was recently arrested on charges of rent-seeking, had helped dozens of individuals and organizations who had not been harmed, but because of his 40 million tomans donation to his seminary in Isfahan, have been dealt with. 
In the evening, Mr. [Hassanollah] Vardinezhad came from the Islamic Refah Party. He criticized the Minister of Industries, especially over the condition of the Alumina Factories in Jajarm and Faryab, and said that the people of Minab, Bashagard and Jiroft regions pray for the renewal of the construction period and today they appreciate the prosperity of those days.
The Japanese coast guard has sunk an unidentified vessel, possibly belonging to North Korea, and 15 people on board are missing. On a U.S. plane, a passenger was arrested for carrying explosives, and U.S. warplanes escorted the plane and landed it. The United States has admitted its mistake in hitting the convoy of Afghan Pashtun tribal leaders.
The Israeli government has prevented [Yasser] Arafat from going to Bethlehem for Christmas celebrations, and Arafat has said he will go at any cost. Argentina's new interim government has stopped paying the principal and subsidiary payments of its $130 billion foreign debt. The situation on the India-Pakistan border has become tense and dangerous.
