I reached my office at half past eight in the morning. I read the reports. The inflammation of the Persian Gulf crisis is there. The European economic community has said that it is not ready to negotiate with Iraq before Iraq negotiates with the United States. I reached my office at half past eight in the morning. I read the reports. The inflammation of the Persian Gulf crisis is there. The European economic community has said that it is not ready to negotiate with Iraq before Iraq negotiates with the United States.

Mr. [Hasan] Shafti, CEO of Homa [= Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines] came. He reported the status of the planes. I told him to open a flight line to Africa. He applied for personnel rights. Mr. Mirzadeh, [Executive Vice President] came for foreign exchange and reconstruction work.

The governor and the dignitaries of Qom came. They gave a report on the situation in Qom and brought about 25 million tomans of aid to the earthquake victims. They appealed to Qom for civil affairs and asked for more powers for the governor.

The Supreme Administrative Council had a meeting to examine the Bill of Harmonized System in Payments. In the evening, I did not go to the meeting of the government board to do the work. I told them, at the suggestion of the leadership, to close tomorrow on the occasion of Hazrat Zahra's death. They reported that our cultural advisor was assassinated in Lahore [Pakistan] and he was martyred. I was impressed.

At night, we had a meeting with [the community] of the militant clergy. They talked about the issues of Tehran, the mayor, taxes, disputes and elections. I came home after dinner.
