Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – December 18, 1990

I woke up at five thirty in the morning and did not sleep again. I worked until nine in the morning. At nine o'clock Mr. [Gholam Mohsin] Jami, [Imam Juma Abadan] came. He told about the situation of Abadan and the needs. I gave an amount of one million tomans to help the needy of the war; Despite not being accepted [by the Guardian Council] in the Assembly of Experts, he expressed his loyalty.

Mr. [Syed Mohammad Hossein] Adli, [Chairman of the Central Bank] and [Masoud Roghani] Zanjani, [Head of the Program and Budget Organization] came. They talked about money and budget issues and bank facilities. Our new ambassadors in Yugoslavia and Vietnam came to say goodbye and consult. We went to Shahid Beheshti University for the [Student] Day ceremony on December 27. We prayed the congregational prayer. Mr. [Ali Asghar] Baghani welcomed me. I spoke and answered the questions; The meeting was enthusiastic and cheerful. It was a huge community. It lasted until two o'clock in the afternoon. I returned to the office; After a short rest, I started working.

Mr. [Mohammed] Waezzadeh [Khorasani], the head of the Interfaith Assembly, came and gave a work report; He asked for the budget and thanked the government's policies. Mr. [Hasan] Saneyi, [Chairman of Panzede Khordad Foundation] came with his son Mohsen. They gave a report on the condition of the foundation's factories and asked for help for the store. Mr. [Mohammed Ali] came to Nazaran and gave a report on the deliberations of the POW Commission in Iraq.

In the evening, the Expediency Council had a meeting. We resolved the dispute between the Majlis and the Guardian Council regarding the budget amendment and canceled the government punishments of the government sector and transferred them to the judicial system. I came home after dinner.
