Early in the morning, I went to the Majlis. I read the reports. The ship “Iran Rashadat” was hit by a missile yesterday and is still burning; they have brought it to Khark by tugboat. In the past few days in Kurdistan, we have dealt a heavy blow to the counterrevolution. In the open session, the bill for deferring Pakistan’s loan repayments was under discussion; during the debate, the government of Pakistan was insulted, but it was eventually approved. Five new ministers were introduced, but some people noisily opposed them.

At noon, the liaisons from the branches of the [Islamic Republic] Party came to the Majlis, and we discussed the future of the Party. In the afternoon, the clerics working in the Construction Jihad came and sought a solution because, in the new bylaws, the official status of the Imam’s representative had been removed due to the Guardian Council’s opposition, which would lead to the exclusion of the clergy and consequently deprive the Jihad of the people’s trust. Major Torabi [from the Army Advisory Office] came. He gave his travel report, and reports from the Army’s three hundred personnel from the [Central Committee] Information [and Investigations] Unit came; they gave a report, and I spoke to them.

Mr. [Khosrow] Tehrani, head of the Prime Minister’s Intelligence Office, came. He complained about Mr. [Mir-Hossein] Mousavi for appointing Colonel [Seyyed Ebrahim] Hejazi as [head of] the [National] Security Office and disregarding his opinion. The heads of the branches of the [Islamic] Azad Universities came; they gave a report, and I gave them some guidance. Mr. [Ali] Shams Ardakani, Iran’s ambassador to Kuwait, came; he had nothing important to report.

Mr. [Gholamreza] Aghazadeh, Minister of State [and head of the Economic Mobilization Organization], came and gave a report on his meeting with the [Tehran] Society of Combatant Clergy and was concerned about the disagreements.
