Before the public session, I did some work in my office. In the public session, the draft statute of the IRIB was on the agenda. Although I conveyed Imam's view opposing some of its articles—which had given extensive powers to the supervisory council—the section opposed by Imam and me was approved. The majority of the parliament is dissatisfied with the current state of the IRIB, and many were expressing distress that Imam's view had not been accommodated.

At noon, I had several meetings in my office and negotiated with a group of those who had impeached Mr. Nateq [Nouri] to withdraw their motion. They did not agree. I met with the students at the seminar of Islamic students from around the world—which had come to the parliament—and spoke to them; it was translated into Arabic.

In the afternoon, the central council of the Islamic Republic Party held a meeting. [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei is in Mashhad. The new minister proposed by Engineer Mousavi for the [Ministry of] Agriculture was approved: Dr. Isa Kalantari. The situation in the parliament and the impeachment of Mr. Nateq Nouri [Minister of the Interior] were also discussed. I stayed in the parliament at night. I did not have much work. I received the news and read the reports. On the recommendation of security officials and to avoid too much coming and going in the streets, I stay in the parliament on some nights; the distance between the parliament and home is considerable, and more than an hour is also saved in time, which is itself significant.
