In the open session, Mr. [Mohammad] Nowruzi, representative of Gonbad, announced in his pre-agenda speech that, with the signatures of fifty representatives, the Minister of Interior had been impeached. They caught us off guard in this way. I had spoken with some of them about withdrawing it, but because the grounds for the impeachment had not been specified, I did not consider it admissible for consideration and told them to complete it; according to the rules of procedure, the grounds for impeachment must be specified so that the minister can examine them in order to prepare his response.

At noon in my office, I performed two or three marriage ceremonies for the families of martyrs. Mr. Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi Tabrizi [representative of Tabriz] came. He was proposing impractical plans and complained about the parliamentary administrative office. In the afternoon, a group of [members of] the Islamic Association of the Isfahan refinery came. They complained about Mr. Gharazi's [Minister of Oil] performance and his political positions, and were protesting the twenty-three-day shutdown of the Tabriz refinery. A large number of heads of Education and Training districts, the Shiraz Workers' House, and the Construction Jihad came; I spoke to them at length. Saad Mujbar, the Libyan ambassador, came. He brought a verbal message from Colonel Gaddafi; he recommended his trip to Saudi Arabia and said they wanted to make a final appeal; either to incline them toward the right path and prevent them from helping Iraq; he wanted us to back down during the Hajj. I also stated our own policy. At night I came home. The children were at a party. I had dinner alone and went to sleep. They came late. I spoke with Mr. Haj Seyyed Javadi about giving a plot of land—from Taher's company in Qom—to the Assembly of Experts.
